Winter is an especially hard time for our skin. The air is generally dryer, and this lack of moisture can hurt or damage our skin. As the new year approaches, try getting into a routine to not only help your skin through the winter, but to start off the new year with good health in mind.
Starting a skincare routine doesn’t have to be difficult or involve a lot of expensive products. In fact, there are a number of habits you can adopt that won’t cost you a dime. For one, make sure you’re stay hydrated. Water helps our skin stay moisturized and, obviously, has other health benefits as well. Conversely, limit your shower time, and try not to use as much hot water. This is hard to do during the colder parts of the year, but hot water can really dry out your skin.
We all live crazy, hectic lives. Between work, family and other responsibilities, there are a lot of stressors we all have to deal with. Stress can lead to headaches, upset stomachs and other problems. A big part of self-care is dealing with this stress in a healthy way, such as a hobby, exercise or watching TV. The important thing is to reserve time for yourself that allows you to wash away the stressors of your day.
There are also plenty of daily activities you can incorporate to help deal with stress. Simple things like taking a walk around the block, breathing exercises and getting a good night’s sleep can all help you destress.
You do so much for other people, why not do something for yourself, too? When you make room for a little “me-time,” you’re allowing yourself a valuable opportunity to unwind.. Whether you’re dealing with stress, or just want to show yourself a little love, making time for yourself is important..
Again, this doesn’t have to disrupt your daily routine, but it should allow you the opportunity to spend some time on yourself. Whether it’s reading a book, taking a nice long bath, or even taking a 15-minute nap, doing something for yourself can really help your mood, and help you get through the more hectic moments of your day.
