Spa Day Pittsburgh | Sewickley Spa
Needless to say, we’re living in an extremely stressful time. Some of us are isolated working from home. Others are juggling having children at their place and working. There’s general stress about the economy and COVID-19 as well as what it means to us individually. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed, but also know you deserve to take some time for yourself.

While we’d love to see you at Sewickley Spa, we’re staying closed to adhere to social distancing. In the meantime, we want to help you find relaxation at home. You’re usually so focused on everyone else's needs, but you need a bit of time to refuel before you keep supporting everyone else.

That’s why we want to share a few ideas for creating a spa day at home!

Make a Facial

As Jonathan Van Ness has shared several times while blessing our Netflix screens, making a homemade facial isn’t a complicated process. You can make one out of simple ingredients such as tomatoes, buttermilk, honey, eggs, almond oil, rose water, avocados, strawberries, yogurt and much more.

The reported benefits of facials include the slowing of aging, improvement of skin elasticity, decrease in stress, increase in blood circulation as well as oxygen flow and healthy-looking skin.

At-Home Manicures

Sometimes, feeling good on the outside can help you feel good on the inside, too. Even though you’re stuck inside with the social distancing, you can still make your nails look beautiful! Because, really, as long as you feel good, who cares if you don't see anyone else?

According to Glamour, the first step to a manicure is cleaning your nails with polish remover. After that, clip, file and buff them, and don’t forget the cuticle remover. Use a scrub to rid your hands of dead skin cells and replace them with moisture. Apply a base coat and then a coat of color. Finish things off with a second coat of color and a topcoat.

Essential Oils

As we’ve mentioned before, essential oils are calming because they activate receptors that send messages to your nervous system to relax. There are an array of essential oils that can help you recreate the spa experience, including lavender, lemon, ylang-ylang, chamomile and bergamot orange.

Stay Safe and Stay Inside

We can’t wait to see you at Sewickley Spa again, but in the meantime, relax and enjoy your at-home spa experience!
