Summertime means a vacation is on the horizon for many. While you’re bursting at the seams over a week at the beach or that international trip, you still have to take care of yourself. From beauty prepping beforehand to in-flight relaxation and daily care, it’s easy to look and feel your best while traveling. Here are a few tips to help you look beautiful throughout the entire trip.
If you’re traveling by plane, think about how to best take care of yourself before and during the coming flight. Most flights are at least an hour, and way longer when flying internationally. That takes a toll on your energy level, appearance and physical wellness.
Prior to takeoff, be mindful of your diet. Consider avoiding excessive sugar, caffeine, alcohol and spicy foods. Travel is exhausting, and each of these things messes with quality of sleep. Instead, opt for lighter foods to help you rest. Pacifying snacks like oatmeal, bananas and yogurt are just a few great choices. Intermittent fasting may also get your circadian rhythms in check, fight jet lag and “jet bloat”—intestinal discomfort resulting from increased cabin pressure.
Additionally, even if your goal isn’t to glam it up on the plane, some pre-flight pampering could be beneficial. Facials are a favorite beauty splurge among many travellers. This bit of pre-flight pampering oxygenates the skin and clears pores by removing impurities, leaving you feel clean and invigorated. Make an appointment a day or two before your trip for best results. Furthermore, skip the makeup the day of travel. You’ll feel good and look great during and after the flight.
You did it! You’ve arrived (and no doubt look rested and refreshed, thanks to proper travel care). Vacation inherently throws your routines and habits off, affecting health and hygiene, but there are a few ways to manage your daily care. Pro tip: Don’t stray far from your normal routine.
