There’s nothing like a trip to the spa. Just stepping through the front door can be enough to melt away all the stress and worries of everyday life. But how do you carry this sense of tranquility and relaxation with you once you leave? With a few simple tricks, you can recreate the relaxing feeling of a spa right in your own home!

1. Calming Scents

Scents are strongly tied to emotion and even our memories. Taking a moment to really think about the candles or other aromas you bring into your home could have a huge effect on your levels of comfort. You don’t even have to keep a candle lit. Essential oils are a great way to boost beautiful scents without a flame. If you’re really going for the relaxation vibe, try calming scents like rosemary, jasmine, vanilla, lemon or sandalwood.

2. Relaxing Sounds

Wireless room speakers are a great gadget to help you recreate the relaxation you feel at the spa. Placing these speakers in various rooms of your home such as your bedroom, bathroom and living room help you carry your favorite sounds throughout the house. Music has been proven to help people relax and even focus better. You can create your own playlists or search music streaming services for spa playlists to really get into the vibe.

3. Revitalizing Natural Light

Access to natural light has many benefits for your wellbeing. Sunshine can help improve your physical health as well as your sleep patterns. Bringing in natural light to your home doesn’t require much. You don’t have to cut holes for skylights (unless you want to), or remodel any rooms. Some simple things you can do include using sheer white curtains to let light in throughout the day and placing mirrors around the room to reflect even more sunlight. These tips work especially well in rooms painted in light, airy colors.

4. Soothing Greenery

We spend a lot of time indoors—especially in the winter months. This can leave the air we breathe inside the home a little stale. Adding some houseplants is a proven way to clean and purify your air. Furthermore, plants and flowers can help lower anxiety and even boost your creativity. Plants offer us a certain tranquility and connection to the natural world, so they’re definitely a must if you’re going for a spa vibe in your home. The best part is, you can find plants and flowers to suit any aesthetic, decor or personality.
