How to Take Care of Your Feet

Your feet help carry you through the world every single day. They are constantly exposed to pressure, rubbing, and often a lack of oxygen. Make sure you pamper your feet and let them know you appreciate what they do for you! You deserve healthy and beautiful feet!

Keeping Feet Smooth

Feet have a rough, job but that doesn’t mean they have to feel rough. Make regular use of a pumice stone or foot file on damp heels and calluses. This should help relieve some foot pain as well as keep them looking pretty when sandal season comes around.

Soak your feet for 10 to 15 minutes in a warm bath or foot soak. You can add your own essential oils or black tea for fragrance and additional benefits. Once your feet have softened, go to work with the pumice stone. You can also use moisturizing foot scrubs to help remove dry skin.

Moisturizing is Key

If you have particularly dry heels, you can get medicated heel pads over the counter to soften your calluses as you walk. For creams you want to look for one with petrolatum, which is an emollient or humectant that draws moisture into your skin. You should be moisturizing your feet everyday.

There are tons of products out there, many that smell and feel amazing. Balms with shea butter or cocoa butter can make you feel particularly pampered. They’re great for using right after a good foot scrub.

Prevent Foot Complications

No one likes to think or talk about foot fungus, but it can happen. One of the things that contribute to it are dark and damp conditions. You want to make sure your feet are clean and dry before you moisturize, put on shoes or any other foot activity.

If your feet tend to sweat use a medicated powder or spray. These should contain aluminum chloride to help keep your feet dry. If you have the opposite problem look for antifungal lotion for your feet.
